*A BRIEF Characters History: Ross Irwin III, born in New South Wales, Australia, spent much of his childhoon and adolescence travelling from country to country and continent to continent, living in Australia, Nimibia, the United Kingdom, and Kuwait. His father was an environmental engineer and his mother a hopeless romantic for all things activist-related. Ross and his sister Sue spent their young lives living out of suitcases, unable to form lasting friendships due to the constant moves in their lives. In Namibia, Ross learned how to fight and brawl.
He separated from his family when he was 17 and moved to the US, where, aged 21 [in 2004], the European Wrestling Alliance - a feeder fed for the World Wrestling Alliance - took a massive gamble on him by offering him a one-year rolling contract as a professional wrestler. Here he adopted the alias Quietus, and within his first year became EWA World Champion in a Bourbon Street Mall.
He made the jump to the WWA in late 2004 where he was despised by one and all. In spite of his inexperience, nothing seemed to phase him, and after working his way up slowly with an impressive win-ratio, he shot to centre stage with an historic 2005 performance at the Independence Day Rumble where in the same night he defeated veteran Tracer Bullet to become US Champion and finished the night as the Rumble Champion, defeating 29 other athletes to earn a shot at the WWA World Title. His victory in the rumble was shrouded in controversy, however, as Quietus - going to any measure to win - exited the ring on two occasions through the ropes and sat in the commentators' seats watching his opponents tire. Impressively, however, his head was split open by a Piledriver on a steel chair and Quietus required first aid treatment back stage, coming back later in the Rumble to end up victorious [victorious only when an ally eliminated two of the remaining four members and as he celebrated, Quietus bundled him over the ropes]. But for a rookie, this was still an historic night and went down in the WWA history books as one of the greatest shocks.
His US Title reign lasted approximately 3 months, where he lost it whilst competing in a World Title league [the World Title was vacated when the holding champion suffered neck trauma that forced him to retire]. Quietus' star continued to rise where he finished second from six athletes in the League, putting himself and a foe Mal Somers through to the World Title Final on Labour Day. Unforunately for Quietus, the match consisted of a Hell in a Cell contest with the belt hanging above the cell - Quietus suffered from a fear of heights and in spite of having two clear opporunities to climb to the top, he froze.
Somers went on to win the World Title and Quietus never fully recovered. He was ridiculed for his freezing - referred to as "The Big Freeze" - and within 3 months his star had faded and he left the WWA in late 2007. Quietus has been out of professional wrestling since, spending six months intensively going to therapy to deal with his fear.
